Hormone Consultation
For more than 20 years, our compounding pharmacist, Kristy Henson, has been meeting the needs of women of all ages through the use of plant-derived hormones that are biologically identical to those naturally occurring in women.
What are hormones?
Hormones are chemical messengers that travel through the bloodstream to cells, tissues and organs. Hormones work slowly, over time, and affect many different bodily processes, including:
-
Growth and development
-
Metabolism – how your body gets energy from the foods you eat
-
Sexual function
-
Reproduction
-
Mood
What does bio-identical mean?
Bio-identical hormones have the identical chemical structure as human hormones, but are made from a yam or soy plant. They are compounded for each person based on their unique biology. Natural or bio-identical hormones produce the same physiologic response in the body as your own.
What are some symptoms of hormone imbalance?
There are several types of hormones within our bodies; including estradiol, estriol, progesterone, estrone, testosterone, thyroid, cortisol, and DHEA hormones. As no two people are the same, neither are our responses to hormone imbalance. Some may experience a few symptoms, while others experience several. The intensity of symptoms can also vary from mild to severe.
